First things first, I’m the… blogger.

First post – yay!
Hi and welcome to the blog. To get things going, here’s a little questionnaire to help you get to know me. My goal is to post twice a week, so check back soon for new content. Starting it off now with some basics and some favorites.

Scoti at wedding

NAME:  Scoti. Yes, it’s my real, totally authentic, on-my-birth-certificate name. I’m named after my dad’s cousin, Scott.
AGE:  27. This is the age that I always thought I’d be when I really had it all together…. so yeah, that’s what we’ll call this.
LOCATION:  New York City! Before NYC, I called DC home and I still have so much love for the district.
HOMETOWN:  I grew up in a small town in just-West-enough Maryland. It’s unlikely you’ve ever heard of my town unless you’re a massive fan of Civil War history or of Nora Roberts. I couldn’t wait to leave and, aside from the gorgeous mountain views, I haven’t missed much – if any – of it since I left. Any other small town expats with me on that?
COLLEGE:  Let’s go, Maryland! While touring colleges I was mesmerized by the sprawling campus and iconic mall. (Then I got there and realized how exhausting it is to walk across said sprawling campus….)
MAJORED IN:  History. I specialized in modern American, with a focus on women’s/minority issues and social movements. So basically I’m the most disappointing trivia team member ever.
NOW DOING:  Well, nothing related to history (though I don’t regret choosing it). I work for a global law firm supporting our Chief Talent Officer.
BOOK:  Currently, I’m finishing up Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King for my book club. Have you read it? But my favorite, forever and always, is The Great Gatsby.
MOVIE:  I love The Grand Budapest Hotel, but I’m not necessarily a huge Wes Anderson person. I’m also known for being terrible with movies. I someone missed all the big ones “everyone!” has seen.
COMEDIAN: Three-way tie between Pete Holmes, Mike Birbiglia, and John Mulaney. If you like all three, we will get along.
PODCAST:  You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes is a weekly ritual. I also dig 2 Dope Queens, Nancy, and The Bowery Boys.
POEM:  Right now “Ode to the Women on Long Island” and “Ode to My Bitch Face” by Olivia Gatwood.
ARTIST:  I’m currently obsessed with Bradley Theodore.
FOOD:  Tacos! I love tacos so much that I find myself accidentally turning other types of cuisine into tacos. I’m still searching for my favorite taco spot in the city…. so far my pick is Sexy Taco Dirty Cash in Harlem. Can you top it?
Okay, that’s it for now. I’m so excited to share more as I get into a regular posting schedule. In the meantime, leave a comment below if you’re interested in reading more on any of these topics!
